Anca TUDORANCEA

holds a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Culture at the University of Bucharest (2011). She is a researcher at the Center for the Study of the History of the Jews in Romania and associate lecturer at the Goldstein Goren Center – the University of Bucharest. Her books and studies analyse the history of Jewish neighbourhoods in Bucharest, the image and imaginary realm of Jewish Bucharest, photos in general and family photos, the Jewish community of Romania in the 19th and 20th centuries. Recent publications: Visual Codes. Natalia LAZĂR

is a researcher at the Centre for the Study of the History of Romanian Jewry (CSIER) within the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania. She holds a PhD in History from the "Ștefan cel Mare" University in Suceava, Faculty of History and Geography, with a thesis about the emigration of Romanian Jews in the communist period. She also graduated from the MA program in Jewish Studies at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Letters. She has published numerous articles regarding the history of the Jews in Romania and has edited CSIER volumes.

Andreea TOMA

is a PhD student at the “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj Napoca, Faculty of History and Philosophy, working on a thesis about forms of cooperation initiated by Jewish women in the modern period. She works in the Research Department of the Centre for the Study of Romanian Jewry (CSIER) and she is interested in Jewish philosophy and social history. She has graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, SNSPA Bucharest and holds an MA in Jewish Culture and Civilization, University of Bucharest. In 2010-2011 she was a Moses Mendelssohn Fellow at Paideia, The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden and has graduated from the “Holocaust for Educators” program, International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem. In 2013 and 2014 she was awarded scholarships from the Naomi Foundation to study in the Naomi Prawer Kadar International Yiddish Summer Program at Tel Aviv University.

Cătălin BONTAȘ

is an archivist at the Centre for the Study of the History of Romanian Jewry (CSIER), working in the management of the existing archives of the Centre and in organising and completing CME and IOVR funds. He works with Jewish Communities in Romania (Buhuși, Alba Iulia) in elaborating documentary works and monographies, through research and by providing copies of the requested documents. He takes part in scientific events organized by FCER and CEB.

George WEINER

was born on December 6, 1979, in Buzău, Romania. He graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, section of English and French – Ploieşti University (2002), and from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Canadian Studies Master’s Degree – University of Bucharest (2003). He worked as a translator in the Pedagogical Centre of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania (2002 - 2007) and currently works as a translator at the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania (English and French). He is interested in the history and culture of the Jewish people.
